New captain Ailish led her team to victory against a new women's side in Mullingar. New players Ali, Maxine, Meishan (Shane) and Ava showed their skills in what was to be the team's first win of the season. Michelle top scored with 25 runs before she was caught behind. Lara scored a very respectable 13 runs and Maxine, in her first outing as a batter in quite a few years, managed to scramble 6 runs together. We ended with 74 runs on the board after the 20 overs. Not entirely sure that was enough, the team went in to field. Although Ailish and Ali (who was playing against her sister) were not rewarded with any wickets for their bowling efforts, Orlaith, Grace and Maxine got a wicket each. Lara and Meishan picked up 2 wickets each. Meishan started with a double wicket maiden and only conceded 1 run in her 2nd over and ended with 2 for 1 from her bowling. She also effected a run out and a catch of Lara's bowling. Top effort! Other catches were by Lara (off her own bowling) and Maxine. in the end Mullingar were restricted to 70 runs.
Many thanks to umpire Rosie and scorer/coach Naomi.
